Problemas emocionales, precariedad y apoyo social en las personas jóvenes

Un análisis de la Encuesta de Salud de España de 2023

El aumento de los malestares emocionales en la población joven está ganando un peso central en el debate público. Cuestiones como la inseguridad laboral o las crecientes dificultades para acceder a una vivienda se están vinculando al incremento de problemas de salud mental y emocional. Así mismo, la literatura señala que el proceso de individualización impone un conjunto de presiones sobre las personas jóvenes que pueden provocar formas de malestar emocional. Este artículo busca indagar en los problemas de tipo emocional que afronta la población joven en España a partir de la Encuesta de Salud de España de 2023, realizada por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística, donde se ofrece un análisis basado en datos recientes y representativos para la población de España. Partiendo de una reflexión sobre el concepto de vulnerabilidad, propongo que los procesos de precarización y la fragilización del soporte relacional están fuertemente asociados con riesgos de corte emocional. Presento un modelo de regresión logística binaria que tiene como objetivo comprender cómo se distribuyen estos riesgos entre la población joven sobre la base de la situación de actividad, la residencial y el apoyo social percibido. Los resultados profundizan en los efectos protectores de la seguridad contractual, la emancipación y el apoyo social ante el malestar emocional. En las discusiones se vinculan estas cuestiones a las dificultades relativas a las transiciones hacia la vida adulta y se propone una lectura de los efectos acumulados respecto a los problemas de vulnerabilidad.
