¿Escolarización o titulación? Análisis de la inserción laboral del alumnado de educación secundaria

Resumen

Las transiciones entre el sistema educativo y el mercado laboral son un proceso clave en la población joven. Este artículo investiga el efecto relativo del nivel educativo alcanzado y de la escolarización en edad postobligatoria en distintas medidas de inserción laboral en las cohortes de nacidos entre 1996 y 1998. Para ello, se explotan los datos de la última edición de la Encuesta de Transición Educativo-Formativa e Inclusión Laboral, del Instituto Nacional de Estadística, publicada en 2019, a través de la aplicación de modelos Logit. Los resultados señalan la mayor relevancia de la titulación a la hora de explicar los resultados en la primera etapa de los jóvenes y las jóvenes en el mercado laboral. Además, los que han permanecido en el sistema educativo en edades postobligatorias sin incrementar su titulación tienen unas posibilidades más reducidas de encontrarse activos, ocupados y de tener un contrato indefinido.

Siro Bayón-Calvo es profesor ayudante doctor en el Departamento de Sociología y Trabajo Social de la Universidad de Valladolid y doctorando en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Sus líneas de investigación principales abordan la sociología de la educación y del trabajo, con especial énfasis en el abandono escolar.

María Fernández-Mellizo es profesora titular de Universidad en el Departamento de Sociología Aplicada de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, donde dirige el grupo de investigación especializado en Sociología de la Educación GRISE. Sus líneas de investigación principales abordan la sociología de la educación, con especial atención al abandono universitario y las desigualdades sociales en educación.
