Transnational guest workers in the 21st century: Gender and the agro-industry in southern Europe

Resum

Aquest article analitza les controvertides interconnexions entre les estructures globals i les condicions de les treballadores migrants temporals. Per fer-ho, s'explora la condició transnacional com a eina per entendre el treball postfordista intensiu i insegur del capitalisme global tardà, particularment al sud d'Europa. Basant-se en recerques prèvies sobre la vida laboral en el sector agrícola, la part principal de l'article considera tres qüestions etnogràfiques. Primera, quin és l'impacte de l'economia transnacional en aquests acords de treballadors convidats? Segona, com es relaciona aquest concepte de convidat amb la vida laboral de les dones? I tercera, com podem entendre l'impacte dels intermediaris i les elits globals en tals pràctiques transnacionals? Utilitzem el concepte d'espai transnacional aplicat al sud d'Europa, juntament amb nocions d’estratègies de mobilitat per aprofundir en la recerca sociològica sobre les interseccions entre diferents treballs de camp —a Huelva (Andalusia) i a la província de Meknès (el Marroc). Analitzem els debats conceptuals sobre les vides i experiències del viure transnacional de les dones. En aquest model de treballador hoste, els treballadors que viuen en un país i treballen estacionalment en un altre normalment provenen de zones rurals i resideixen a l'estranger en allotjaments precaris al costat dels seus conciutadans. Quins són els desafiaments per a les dones involucrades en aquest model tan rígid, en matèria de reclutament, transport, treball, salut, lleure i retorn a l'origen? Quin espai queda per a la justícia social?
