An assessment of the implementation of the peace agreements in El Salvador

Abstract

The article addresses the implementation of the Salvadoran Peace agreements. In the first part of the paper each main aspect of theses agreements and its actual implementation is describe: democratization, demilitarization, human rights and socio-economic policies. In the second section, the implications of these changes for the main Salvadoran political actors are discussed. The article ends with a short overview about some possible future evolutions of both politics and policies in the country.
