Identity Building Processes in Immigrant Population
Abstract
In this article we examine the different ways moroccan and peruvian immigrants reconstruct their personal identity in Spain. The migration affects the individual self-presentation mechanisms because of the presence in a new society. Variables as social class, ethnicity, religion, nation or political affiliation are relevant in this phenomenon, which must be also interpreted in the context of new social conditions. We describe, in cconsecuence, a dynamic process of social construction correlated with individual subjectivity. Keywords
