Women in migration into Campania
Abstract
In the recent migrations towards southern European countries the female component of flows shows a character, a centrality, and a social visibility before unknown. Also in the region of Campania immigrant women have represented the main element of the migration chain. For certain communities they represent more than 80% of the presence, in others, however they are less than 20%. Female migrants are the most evident component of the offical data, therefore, being less irregular than men. Immigrant women are often represented as an homogeneous and privileged reality of the immigration. However, their real condition is far form this image, they live mostly segregated inside the domestic walls of the families for which they complete their domestic chores. Keywords
