Muslim immigrants in a «lay» society. Creation process, consolidation and future challenges of the mosques

Abstract

This article presents, by means of two empirical studies, the dynamics followed by some Spanish mosques. Stating it is a phenomenon every day more important and perceptible, it analyses the reasons of the creation and the objectives of the mosques and, especially, the role they play in the process of recuperation of the religious practices in the Muslim community.
