Abstract

Through in-depth interviews with one person, we obtain a life story and we have closely examined a migratory project that has its origins in the independence of Algeria and in the necessary exit of the so-called pieds-noirs, in a time when Spain was characterized for being a country of emigrants. The study of one specific case offers us the opportunity to go deeply into one of the few inmigrations that took place in Spain forty years ago. The interview is divided in three parts: life in Algeria, the experience of the exodus, and the experience as an immigrant. Particularly, we are interested in the cultural and social aspects that mark a life, and, at the end, make up a personality, a way of thinking, feeling and interpreting reality. The study of one life could be extrapolated to a specific group.
