La intermediació lingüística per part de menors (ILM) des de la perspectiva dels progenitors

Aquest article explora el fenomen de la intermediació lingüística per part de menors (ILM), és a dir, les tasques de traducció i interpretació que els fills de famílies immigrades realitzen per a adults amb competències lingüístiques limitades. Partint de l’objectiu de reflectir la perspectiva dels progenitors que en alguna ocasió han recorregut als fills —encara nens o adolescents— per comunicar-se en els serveis públics, els autors empren entrevistes en profunditat amb pares i mares dels col·lectius àrab, amazic, pakistanès i xinès, residents a la província de Barcelona, per exposar les complexitats emocionals i les dificultats pràctiques que comporten aquest tipus d’esdeveniments comunicatius. La conclusió és que la ILM no és la solució òptima per resoldre els problemes que deriven de les barreres lingüístiques en el context migratori, malgrat ser un fenomen habitual i espontani en els quatre col·lectius entrevistats.

Mireia Vargas-Urpí, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona

Mireia Vargas-Urpí és doctora en Traducció i Estudis Interculturals per la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). És professora agregada al Departament de Traducció i d’Interpretació i d’Estudis de l’Àsia Oriental de la UAB, on imparteix assignatures de llengua i traducció del xinès. És membre dels grups MIRAS i TXICC, i ha liderat el projecte Young Natural Interpreters: Child language brokering in education, social services and healthcare (RTI2018-098566-A-I00) (2019-2022).

Aran Romero Moreno, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona

Aran Romero-Moreno és doctor en Estudis Interculturals per la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), té un màster en Antropologia i Etnografia (Universitat de Barcelona) i el Grau en Estudis de l’Àsia Oriental de la UAB. S’ha especialitzat en l’estudi antropològic de la societat xinesa i de la urbanitat a la Xina, tot i que també ha treballat extensament el fenomen de la intermediació lingüística per part de menors (ILM). Ha participat en el projecte finançat Young Natural Interpreters: Child language brokering in education, social services and healthcare (RTI2018-098566-A-I00) del grup de recerca MIRAS (UAB).
