Marxism and Anthropology. The Relevance of the Marxist Analysis in Social Anthropology
Abstract
The Marxist analysis was widely acknowledged in the sphere of social anthropology during the seventies and eighties. Today, despite the changes in the discipline and the crisis of Marxism, a significant group of anthropologists continues to support its validity and legitimacy. This paper seeks to explain the conditions under which the recognition and affirmation of the Marxist perspective took place in social anthropology; examines the traits that characterize and distinguish it from the rest, attempts to clarify the reasons why it remains valid and explains how it must be assumed and followed today. Keywords
