Educational reforms and professionalism in teaching profession

Abstract

In the last decades have emerged in the Sociology of Education a new research interest around the teaching profession as a seminal agent of the educational system in the educational reforms. The main aim of this article is to explore the recent history of Spanish educational system and the political discourse on teaching profession and identify the dilemmas of its professionalism process in different periods from a sociological perspective: the education policy during the dictatorship period, the educational reform in the 70s’ (Ley General de Educación) and in the 80s’ (Ley de Ordenación General del Sistema educativo).
