Abstract

In this study we consider the analysis of the importance of parents attitudes –expectations and levels of aspiration– in the performance of children at school. This is a study carried out among families of African origin resident in Lérida. In this analysis different attitudes come out of the family study as a result of the immigrant phenomenon. The following points stand out: the academic level desired for their children, the level that they really think can be achieved, the considered utility of the educational system and the importance of the pupil/teacher relationship.
